The AL2418-0000-0001 is a compact servo motor produced by the company. The motor is ideal for high-speed reciprocating motion. This model is frequently used in areas where high acceleration rates are required. Beckhoff has ensured that all servo motors from the AL24xx series have a long operational life. The motor has a wear-resistant built and sustains mechanical wear effects. The AL2418-0000-0001 is suited for aggressive industrial environments because its winding coils are potted and are in compliance with IP 64 protection standard. With a top speed of 4.5 m/s (for N-type winding) and 10 m/s (for S-type winding), the motor can accelerate at an impressive 30 g. The servo motor gives a very stiff control response because there is no backlash.

An integrated MES system is provided with this motor. The MES generates corrective encoder signals after registering the magnetic field produced by the permanent magnets. The permanent magnets are firmly attached to the magnet plate through steel plates. The AL2418-0000-0001 has a 720 N peak force and a peak current of 25.1 A (for S-type winding) and 12.3 A (for N-type winding). The device weighs 2.3 kg and its magnets generate an attraction force of 1300 N. The AL2418-0000-0001 is protected against thermal overload because of a 1000 ohm PTC temperature sensor. In conjunction with EtherCAT servo drive, the AL2418-0000-0001 becomes capable to accelerate at extremely high speeds through short distances. The motor’s encoders have a sharp response time that enables the motor to control the position with high accuracy and repeatability.
