The EEA-PAM-535-D-30 is a plug-in power amplifier card produced by Vickers for the EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. Installed in a Eurocard rack, it converts low-level command and feedback signals into proportional drive current for a KFDG4V-5 electrohydraulic valve. Within an automation cell, the card closes the hydraulic position loop, allowing a PLC or motion controller to regulate pressure or flow through the integrated PID module rather than relying on external electronics. Designed for 24 VDC cabinets, the board also includes reference rails and alarm-reporting circuitry.
The card draws from a nominal backplane supply of 24 VDC, and this low-voltage feed energizes all signal-conditioning and valve-drive stages without an auxiliary transformer. Command signals accepted through the current input are terminated with an impedance of 100 Ω to match industry-standard 4–20 mA transmitters, while voltage commands encounter an input resistance of 47 kΩ that minimizes loading on ±10 V reference sources. After internal scaling, the output stage can reproduce a symmetrical control range of ±10 V for diagnostics or for driving external devices. A dedicated drive-zero network with a resistance of 50 Ω helps the spool return to its neutral position when the card is de-energized, preventing unintended fluid flow.
Feedback from an external LVDT position sensor is supplied by an isolated +15 V excitation rail, and the return signal enters a differential path with an impedance of 1 MΩ so long cable runs do not distort accuracy. An onboard monitor point buffered at 10 kΩ allows loop behavior to be checked with standard meters, while the alarm output passes through a 50 Ω resistor compatible with panel indicators. All processing is handled by the integrated PID module, yet total consumption stays within 50 W, allowing dense mounting inside ventilated enclosures. The Eurocard format provides a standardized rack interface, and the card has a mass of 0.4 kg, which places little additional load on the enclosure hardware.
