Product Description:
The EEA-PAM-561-B-31 is a plug-in power amplifier card produced by Vickers for its EEA-PAM Power Amplifiers series. Installed in a valve control rack, the card conditions command signals and modulates current to a proportional solenoid so hydraulic flow or pressure can be set from a PLC or analog controller, making it a common interface component in automated presses, molding machines, and test rigs.
The module is energized from a nominal supply of 24 V DC at 50 W and draws 1.4 A when the input command is at 0 V. It delivers a bidirectional command source of ±10 V × 10 mA for external circuitry and provides separate +10 V and –10 V reference outputs at 5 mA for sensor excitation. Internally, a factory-set gain of 10% per V scales the valve command, while the current loop is limited to a maximum solenoid drive of 1.8 A to protect the coil. Voltage input impedance is 47 kΩ, whereas the current input path presents 100 Ω, allowing the card to accept either type of control signal without loading the source. A 5 kΩ potentiometer can be wired to the external command terminals, and the ramp generator sees 10 kΩ, permitting smooth acceleration and deceleration profiles.
Field wiring reaches the card through a DIN 41612 F48 male edge connector, simplifying replacement without disturbing panel wiring. The amplifier’s factory-applied 10% deadband suppresses valve jitter around the null position, and an auxiliary control supply of +15 V is available for small signal conditioning boards. For fine tuning, service personnel can trim the internal ±10 V references, verify the 5 kΩ external command pot, and confirm the separate 10 kΩ ramp network for the desired response. The design maintains stable operation by combining the high-impedance 47 kΩ voltage input path with matched negative and positive reference outputs, ensuring predictable current delivery to the proportional solenoid under varying process commands.
