The L840-012 is a super motor series from Sanyo Denki; the motor maintains a superior operation performance through its high operation efficiency, low noise, and energy-saving operation. Also, the cogging torque of this servo motor has been reduced by up to half when compared to conventional motor designs. This “Super” motor is built with a housing that provides protection according to IP43, which makes it possible to easily withstand dust and water penetrations. The motor is a permanent magnet-excited device that belongs to the thermal class F and has an insulation resistance of at least 10 mega-Ohms or more. The motor supports both forward and reverse rotations; its dielectric strength is also determined to be about <<1500 volts. The operation of this industrial motor in an environment where vibration is present, such as in moving vehicles or shipping vessels, is not permitted. Also, any modification or alteration to the motor design should be avoided.

The L840-012 can be used in a wide range of applications, including medical, transport-related equipment, aviation or processing equipment. The motor bearings holding the brake are life-limited parts; these may be replaced by operators based on the results of the actual equipment evaluation.
