The E0241-437-012 is a Bubble Memory card that is used in the OSP 5000/5020 automation system. The OSP 5000 is known to be an advanced automation system that assists in the control of lathe machines, machining centers, and other similar systems. The OSP series is also famous because of its integrated graphics function. The main OSP 5000 system is provided with an NC operation panel, a pendant operation panel, and a machine control panel. When using the OSP 5000 system, a considerable improvement can be achieved in the cutting feed rate of machines. The bubble card consists of a bubble memory that is able to store part programs, machine parameters, and control software. The bubble memory card is available in the 4 Mbits, 8 Mbits, 12 Mbits, and 16 Mbits capacities.
The mainboard installed in the OSP 5000/5020 can host up to two separate bubble memory cards. This can provide a maximum bubble memory capacity of 32 Mbits or 4 Mbytes. When the machine is turned on, the bubble memory is used to download the software to RAM. The active program is then run from the DRAM on main card 11 and main card 12. The main cards can be mounted on the mainboard II installed in the system. The bubble memory is primarily used as the long term memory in the system. This helps to store certain types of data that need to be stored for an extended period of time. The data also needs to be changed or periodically. This type of data is stored in bubble memory.
