The PSR4/5A-250-0020 power module is produced by Kollmorgen as part of the PSR Servo Power Supplies series. It is a regenerative power supply for BDS and ACS systems, furnishing the shared DC bus that energizes multiple servo amplifiers while returning excess kinetic energy to the mains. In automated machinery, the module stabilizes the drive bus during acceleration, deceleration, and steady-state operation. Its regenerative design manages energy returned by connected motors when a commanded motion slows or stops. This function reduces voltage rise on the common bus and supports coordinated operation across multiple servo axes.
The supply provides a continuous phase current of 50 A per phase, providing sufficient amperage for several medium-frame amplifiers connected in parallel. Its internal rectifier and filter stage convert the three-phase input to a regulated bus voltage of 310 VDC. An energy storage network with a total capacitance of 0.00300 F holds charge to help the system continue operating through brief line dips. The maximum continuous output is 15 kW, supporting sustained power delivery under normal operating loads. Transient demand can reach 75 A per phase for two seconds during longer acceleration events. Shorter current surges can rise to 100 A per phase for 50 milliseconds before current foldback occurs, protecting the internal power semiconductors from excessive thermal stress.
Steady conversion losses produce 175 W of heat, while regeneration spikes can momentarily raise dissipation to 325 W. Forced cabinet ventilation is recommended to remove this heat and maintain suitable operating temperatures around the module. The enclosure has a height of 343.0 mm, a width of 140.0 mm, and a depth of 284.0 mm, allowing its required cabinet space to be determined before installation. Standard mounting brackets and holes with a diameter of 7.0 mm accommodate common M6 mounting hardware without additional mechanical adapters. The module accepts a 230 VAC three-phase supply as its incoming power source. Its compact enclosure allows the shared power section to be installed alongside compatible servo amplifiers while preserving access to mounting points, ventilation paths, and electrical connections.
