Product Description:

MMC-SD-8.0-460-D is an MMC series smart drive from Kollmorgen. It is designed for motor control in industrial applications. The drive receives motion commands via a digital link. Flash memory on the unit is used for storing the firmware, which can be upgraded. A serial port on the unit provides communications with PC-based control software. An internal switch is available for controlling the mechanical brake. LEDs for power and diagnostics are available on the front side. The drive supports multiple types of motor feedback, including incremental encoder, resolver, and high-resolution encoder. Integrated I/O include eight 24 Volts DC inputs and four 24 Volts DC outputs. Weight of the MMC-SD-8.0-460-D drive is 16 lbs. Its AC input specifications include 11.8 kVA nominal power input, 207 to 460 Volts AC input voltage, 47 to 63 Hertz input frequency, and 14.8 Amps input current.

The maximum inrush current is 27.7 Amps rms. Heat dissipated by the drive during operation is 204 Watts. The AC output specifications include 18 Amps continuous output current, 4 kilowatts continuous output power at 230 Volts AC, 8 kilowatts continuous output power at 460 Volts AC, 36 Amps peak output current and 0 to 450 Hertz output frequency. The internal holding brake draws maximum 0.5 Amps. Kollmorgen recommends maximum 16 AWG wire for power input and 1.25 Nm maximum tightening torque. The MMC-SD-8.0-460-D drive unit implements 3-phase sinusoidal commutation. A digital PI controller provider current regulation and a digital PID controller provides velocity regulation. The operating temperature range is from 7 to 50 degrees Celsius. Unused drives require -30 to 70 degrees Celsius storage temperature. The maximum altitude without output derating is 1500 meters.
