The 13.F5.C1E-160A is an axis drive produced by KEB within the F5 Combivert Axis Drives series. It functions as a variable-frequency inverter between a three-phase mains supply and an induction or synchronous motor, allowing speed, torque, and direction to be regulated by a PLC or motion controller. By converting fixed-frequency AC into a modulated output, the unit supports conveyors, packaging machines, and other motion-focused equipment used on the plant floor. The output stage adjusts voltage and frequency together so the connected motor can respond smoothly to changing load and speed commands.
The drive accepts a three-phase input at 230 V AC. A separate control circuit requires 24 V DC, which isolates logic power from the mains section. Under continuous duty, the inverter delivers 5.5 kW, while the power section carries 24 A of nominal motor current and can reach a peak of 43 A during acceleration. An internal IGBT braking transistor dissipates regenerated energy to help keep DC bus voltage within limits during deceleration. Eight digital inputs, two analog inputs, two analog outputs, and two relay outputs are scanned every 2 ms for responsive closed-loop control and external status signaling.
