Product Description:
The 131B7227 is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss and supplied under the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Designed for fan, pump, and compressor duty, the unit converts fixed mains power into a variable-frequency, variable-voltage output so building automation controllers can match motor speed to the real-time load. Integrating the drive into an HVAC loop can reduce electrical consumption, soften mechanical stress during starts, and maintain tighter temperature or pressure control without manual intervention.
At a continuous output of 8.2 A at 460 V, the inverter supplies enough current for most 5-hp-class fan motors while keeping stator heating within design limits. Its rated shaft power of 4.0 kW is the maximum mechanical load the system can sustain during continuous service. The input section accepts three-phase mains over the 380–480 V AC range, allowing a single model to serve international utility grids. A chassis-style enclosure with an IP20 rating permits cabinet installation where only limited ingress protection is required. During full-speed operation, the drive dissipates 124 W as heat, a value that helps determine panel ventilation and thermal derating requirements.
The unit has a footprint of 268 × 90 × 205 mm, allowing it to fit beside contactors and breakers in narrow HVAC panels. Its mass of 4.9 kg permits convenient handling while providing enough weight to absorb some vibration from nearby machinery. An internal EMC network rated to class A1/B (C1) helps limit conducted radio-frequency emissions on building wiring, reducing the need for supplemental filters. For extended service life in humid or dust-laden plant rooms, the control boards have a Class 3C3 coated PCB finish that shields fine traces from corrosion and particulate buildup. This protective coating supports operation where airborne moisture and contaminants could otherwise affect exposed electronic components.
