The RD 500 drive system, designed by Bosch Rexroth, is an innovative automated solution suitable for various synchronous and induction motors. It is a three-phase drive system composed of  AC drive converters, DC supply inverters, and regenerative feedback rectifiers and supply modules. These components can be purchased individually or as a complete unit. The RD 500 can be used in hoist and conveyor technology, chemical and process technology, and machine tools.

The RD52.1-4B-200-F-V1-FW is an AC drive converter in the RD 500 drive system. It demands a three-phase supply voltage of 380V to 480V with a tolerance limit of ±10% for its operations. The heat generated in this device is eliminated via a forced-air cooling system with integrated liquid circulation. It also has a rated power motor output of 200kW and a rated current of 350A. This converter model uses vector flux control and is commonly used in demanding highly dynamic task operations. These include paper machines and flying shears.

According to DIN IEC 721-3-3, the RD52.1-4B-200-F-V1-FW is a product of environmental category 3k3. Therefore, it must be operated in a room with an ambient temperature range of 0°C to 40°C. It also features interfaces such as CANopen, Profibus DP slave, and Synchrolink. In addition, it can be operated with or without an encoder. The encoder systems with which it is compatible include incremental, resolver, and sin-cos encoder. This device is monitored and navigated via a removable control panel which can be used to copy and transfer parameter sets. The control terminal strip extension on this RD 500 drive converter unit also allows for four isolated digital inputs and two relay outputs.
