The Bosch RD51.2-5B-005-L-A1-FW is a RD51 series AC drive system. It uses a converter rated for 500 Volts AC and a built-in brake chopper and delivers rated output of 5.5 kilowatts. Additional functions supported by the drive include stand-by power external, starting lock-out and filter current feedback. The drive firmware has to be ordered as a separate subposition. An optional user panel, the RDwin PC-based software and other interfaces can be used to operate, visualize and parameterize the drive. The RS-232 and RS-485 serial interfaces are available on the logic and control board. Optional interface cards can also be installed including SERCOS, Interbus S, CAN open and CAN bus. These optional interface cards can be used for setting the drive parameters. Power sections on the RD51.2-5B-005-L-A1-FW are designed for cooling at the rear.

This implies that the forced cooling can be implemented with an associated higher degree of protection. Drive versions are also available with liquid cooing with integrated or external heat exchangers. The RD51.2-5B-005-L-A1-FW relies on forced air cooling and requires 0 to 40 degrees Celsius ambient temperature. A radio interference filter and a line reactor are integrated into the drive converter to minimize the harmonics fed back into the line supply. The RD51.2-5B-005-L-A1-FW complies fully with EMC directives regarding noise immunity and noise emission according to EN 61800-3 and EN 55011 Class A. In accordance with EN 50082-2 the RD51.2-5B-005-L-A1-FW is also immune to noise. Approximate weight of the RD51.2-5B-005-L-A1-FW drive system is 6.5 kilograms. The IP20 rated housing is designed to be mounted inside a suitable cabinet. Only qualified and trained personnel should operate and install the converter based AC drive system.
