The RAC 4.1-400-460-LP0-W1 is best known for providing intelligent digital control of asynchronous main spindle motors manufactured by Indramat. It can also serve as a main spindle drive controller for frameless spindle motors. It produces a maximum resolution of 1/4 000 000 revolutions. The RAC 4.1- 400-460-LP0-W1 is built with a functional ventilation system. It has a heat sink and a cooling fan that guides the cooling air through the unit’s air shaft. An additional encoder or a synchronization input is also available for the spindle’s feedback.  The RAC 4.1-400-460-LP0-W1 offers additional interface which are optional. The drive controller should be operated within a within a permissible ambient temperature range of +5 up to +45°C. The maximum permissible ambient temperature should not exceed +55°C.

In terms of protection classification, the RAC 4.1-400-460-LP0-W1 falls under IP 10 classification which means that it is protected against foreign objects with more than 50 mm in diameter. However, other threats such as water and intentional penetration or damage should be avoided. Ambient conditions can be achieved by cooling the interior air of the device’s control cabinet. A programming module is plugged into the controller which adjusts the controller to the main spindle motor. A matching AS programming module is provided for by Indramat. These spindle drives are controlled via microprocessors. The AS programming module stores the software and the parameter values.
