The RAC 2.2-150-460-A0I-Z1 serves as a device controller for Indramat’s asynchronous main spindle motors and frameless spindle motors. RAC’s main drives are ideal for machine tools that are controlled numerically due to its resistance against physical changes and broad speed range. The controller also has an internal position control loop capable of independent positioning with a maximum resolution of 1/4 000 000 revolutions. A power failure does not affect the RAC 2.2-150-460-A0I-Z1’s ability to perform a direct current braking in halting the main spindle since the emergency stop switch and the mains contactor are integrated into the device. There are two cooling options for the RAC drive controller. The first option is to have the air drawn from inside the control cabinet before blowing it outside. The second cooling option is to have cut-outs in the control cabinet backwall where the cooling air drawn in can be blown out. Either option can be performed without making extensive structural changes.  However, if cooling air outside the control cabinet is not possible, a hose cooling can be equipped. 

Upon integrating the RAC 2.2-150-460-A0I-Z1, the operating conditions and other essential data such as the mechanical and technical data should be considered during the planning for the control cabinet. The RAC 2 controllers are matched to the drive and machine through stored parameters on the AS programming module. This makes exchanges convenient in case of a defect in the driver.
