The PST6100.336-L has a separate control and monitoring components that allow for easy operation and programming. Bosch Rexroth manufactures the thyristor power unit with an inbuilt thermostatic switch and a weld timer. The thermostat monitors the thyristor unit temperature and sends warning messages to the weld timer whenever an overvoltage (> 80° C) occurs when welding. The warning signal is displayed through the BOS-5000 operator interface and is cleared by the reset button on the weld timer located at the front panel. The thyristor controls the welding transformers to alter the amount of current passing through the welding system for safe operations. Although the PST power unit has a rugged design, malfunction of the system may occur in some scenarios and is caused by incorrect electrical connection, insufficient cooling of the power unit, and current parameters set higher than the maximum permitted limit.

The PST6100.336-L is mounted using a mounting plate placed at the back of the inverter. The mounting plate comes as an accessory and is purchased separately. Other accessories supplied include profile pin connectors for small wire sizes, line connection, and welding transformer connection. The thyristor unit is cooled by water or air. When water is preferred to cool the thyristor power unit, always ensure that you check the water temperature and the inlet connection for the cooling water is turned on.

The allowed operating temperature for the thyristor power unit ranges from 0° C to 55° C with a relative humidity of  90% as pa the DIN 40040, Humidity class F. The PST6100.336-L is made up of Flexible parallel-serial I/O interfaces, Fieldbus interfaces for communication, integrated control, and monitoring functions.
