Product Description:
The MSS162D-0400-FR-N0CN-NNNN is a stator assembly manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MSS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. Configured as a standard kit component, this stator is intended for integration inside a machine builder’s spindle housing, where it couples with a matching rotor to form a high-speed synchronous spindle motor. Its frame size of 162 mm and frame length D fit the compact envelopes common to multi-axis machining centers, while the 0400 winding variant supports the torque and speed profile required for demanding metal-cutting cycles.
The electromagnetic section is wound for a rated speed of 4000 rpm, enabling stable closed-loop operation across typical milling and grinding ranges. Heat generated by copper losses is removed through liquid cooling that flows around a dedicated stator cooling jacket. This thermal path allows continuous high-current operation without exceeding the applicable thermal limits. Power and feedback conductors exit the stator through an axially routed cable interface, so the cabling runs parallel to the spindle axis and clears adjacent tooling. The windings use Class F insulation, which protects them at elevated operating temperatures. The radial placement of the coolant fittings also simplifies hose routing inside the headstock.
The stator has an open construction rated at IP00, so the machine builder must install it inside a suitable enclosure that provides personnel protection and contains oil mist. A factory-installed 1.5 m power cable with flying leads simplifies the electrical connection and eliminates the need for intermediate junctions. The unit is supplied without a motor encoder, allowing the machine to use an external spindle encoder at the rear shaft or operate with compatible sensorless drive algorithms. Operation is permitted within an ambient temperature range of 0 to +40 °C. Maintaining this temperature range helps control heat transfer when the stator is installed inside a liquid-cooled spindle cartridge.
