Product Description:
The MSS162B-0400-FR-N0CN-NNNN is an open-frame synchronous stator manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MSS Synchronous IndraDyn H Motors series. Supplied as a kit motor, the unit is installed directly in a machine housing so that a matching rotor, bearing set, and liquid-cooling circuit can be selected by the machine builder. Within an automation cell, it converts drive current into rotating electromagnetic fields that deliver high dynamic torque to precision axes without the bulk of a fully enclosed motor. This configuration allows the stator to become an integral part of the machine rather than requiring a separate motor housing.
The motor has an open kit-motor design, meaning that no enclosure or shaft seals are provided and protection must be added externally. Electrical power reaches the stator through AWG 8 conductors, which can carry the rated phase current while minimizing voltage drop. The stator has an IP00 protection rating, so its exposed laminations and windings rely on the machine housing for protection from dust and fluids. Heat generated in the copper is removed by a coolant stream with a required flow rate of 2.0 L/min. The cooling circuit can be pressurized up to 6 bar without exceeding the pressure limit of the internal stator channels. Coolant enters through an M16 × 1 mounting thread and exits through matching ports. Six M6 threads with a depth of 12 mm on each face secure the stator to the machine frame.
Magnetic coupling to the rotor creates an axial attractive force of 310 N and a radial attractive force of 960 N. The bearing and structural components must be sized to withstand these constant loads during operation. At the recommended coolant flow rate, the circuit produces a pressure drop of 1.6 bar, which must be considered when selecting pumps and manifold orifices. Piping attaches to an axial G 1/8 thread for connection to the cooling circuit. A single M6 grounding thread with a depth of 12 mm is provided on each face. This connection links the stator stack to the machine’s protective grounding system.
