Product Description:
EP2038-0002 is a high-performance EtherCAT box from Beckhoff. It is designed to enable reliable I/O performance for actuators connected to industrial EtherCAT networks. The box supports 8 output channels that can connect to a variety of loads. The signal connections are via M12 screw-type connections. Multiple such EtherCAT boxes can be deployed to provide distributed I/O functionality over high-speed industrial EtherCAT networks. A special feature of the box is diagnostic functionality. The box can detect short circuits on the output connections and wire-breaks/open circuits. This feature enables fast identification of faults, which is essential for rapid troubleshooting and problem resolution. LED indicators provide status of connected signals. The upstream and downstream EtherCAT connections are made via two 4-pin M8 socket at the top of the box. Eight M12 connectors provide output connections.
The power supply connections are at the bottom of the box, with one female M8 socket for the 24 Volts DC input and one male M8 socket for the downstream power supply. The box draws 120 milliamps for the power supply. The EP2038-0002 box can source up to 2 Amps per connected output but the output for all channels cannot exceed 4 Amps. The specified ON state/OFF state switching time is 200 microseconds. Auxiliary power current specifications are 20 milliamps plus load current. The box is designed with electrical isolation, which is an important feature that protects input signals from errors and protects equipment and personnel against electric shock. Optimal box operation requires -25 to 60 degrees Celsius temperature. Protection class of the box is IP65, which allows its use in dusty, dirty and wet environments. Fixing holes on the box allow secure mounting.
