Product Description:

EP1859-0042 is an EtherCAT box supporting 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs, with connections for the inputs and output being through 5-pin M12 screw connectors. Beckhoff has designed the box for process control solutions. The box acts as an interface between I/O connected to its terminals and process controllers on the EtherCAT network. Two M12 sockets on the box provide the interface with the EtherCAT bus. Each input is equipped with a filter that has 3 millisecond delay. Total current for the output channels is 0.5 Amps. These outputs support reverse polarity protection and short-circuit protection. LED indicators show status of signals connected to the input and output channels. Voltage range corresponding to a binary 0 is -3 to 5 Volts. Voltage range corresponding to a binary 1 is 11 to 30 Volts.

The output channels on the EP1859-0042 box can be connected to ohmic, lamp, and inductive loads. The rated load voltage is 24 Volts DC. Typical switching time for the ON state is 50 microseconds and switching time for the OFF state is 100 microseconds. Value of the typical short circuit current is 1.5 Amps. The auxiliary power current is 20 milliamps plus the current draw of the load. Weight of the EP1859-0042 box is 400 grams. Its housing dimensions are 60 x 150 x 26.5 millimeters. The polyamide box housing provides IP65 category protection. With this excellent protection, the box can be safely installed in different operating conditions. Mounting of the box is possible via two fixing holes that are designed for M4 size screws. Only trained personnel with relevant qualifications and experience should handle, operate and troubleshoot the box.
