The EK1110-0008 is an EtherCAT coupler produced by Beckhoff within the EK EtherCAT Couplers series. It serves as the head station that converts an incoming EtherCAT line to the internal E-bus used by Beckhoff I/O terminals, allowing compact chains of digital or analog modules to appear as a single node to the network master. The unit links field-level signals to real-time Ethernet, so it is installed in control cabinets where decentralized I/O must be aggregated before reaching the machine controller.

The coupler measures 44 x 100 x 68 mm, a footprint that fits between standard terminal blocks without obstructing airflow in a cabinet. Its enclosure carries an IP20 rating, indicating finger-safe openings but no sealing against liquids, so the device is intended for dry, enclosed environments. Installation is on a 35 mm DIN rail, allowing tool-free mounting in standard control cabinets.
