The EK1101-0050 is an EtherCAT Coupler featuring an Identity verification switch. This product serves as a link between EtherCAT Protocol at the Fieldbus level and the EtherCAT terminals. The signals received by the coupler from the higher network level are converted by the product into an E-bus signal representation and sent to the connected EtherCAT terminals. The electrical cable used to send signals into this coupler is the 100-BASE-TX cable, which maintains a data transmission rate of 100 megabits per second through the coupler. There are about 65,534 terminals in the overall system featuring this product; the coupler also contains about 4096 configurable IDs. The coupler has a maximum of 4.2 gigabytes of addressable input and output points.

The installation and general handling of this product are fairly easy to carry out. Also, the compact housing design of this product is intended to prevent the interference of large solid substances with external diameters larger than 12 millimeters. Two RJ45 sockets serve as the bus interface on the coupler; the current supply through the bus is about 2000 milliamperes.
