Product Description:
The 8B0P0440HW00.001-1 is a power supply unit produced by B & R Automation for the 8B0 ACOPOS Multi Power Supplies series. Mounted at the head of an ACOPOS Multi drive lineup, it feeds the common DC bus, buffers energy, and channels surplus power to an external brake resistor. By providing regulated DC and coordinated braking, it allows downstream inverters and servo axes to accelerate, decelerate, and hold position with stable voltage and controlled thermal load. This arrangement supports multi-axis systems that share one supply section across several connected drive modules.
The logic and fan circuits draw 25 VDC ±1.6% from an external supply, supported by an internal input capacitance of 23.5 µF that smooths transients. Control electronics consume only 12 W, which helps limit heat inside the enclosure during normal operation. When the three-phase mains is applied, the module experiences an inrush of 10 A at 400 VAC before the charging resistors bypass. For branch overcurrent protection, a built-in fuse rated at 30 A opens under fault conditions. The enclosure is rated IP20, so the unit is intended for installation in a closed control cabinet. The housing measures 106.5 mm wide, 263 mm deep, and 317 mm high, which supports dense lineup placement with adjacent inverters, and the installed load on the plant distribution network reaches 30.4 kVA at full utilization.
The capacitor bank totals 1320 µF and can deliver 16 kW of continuous DC power to the attached drives. Regenerative energy is diverted through an integrated chopper that connects to external resistors of at least 7.5 Ω. This braking stage supports a steady dissipation of 3 kW and tolerates peaks up to 65 kW for one second during emergency stops. For acceleration surges, the power supply can source a line-side peak of 48 kW without voltage droop, helping multiple axes reach commanded torque at the same time.
