Product Description

The P21NRXA-LNF-NS-02 stepper motor is a P-series Powermax II motor designed and manufactured by Kollmorgen Motors (the Powermax brand was formerly owned by Pacific scientific, which was acquired by Kollmorgen motors). The Powermax II brand is famous for its top quality yet cost-friendly stepper motors.

The P21NRXA-LNF-NS-02 has a standard NEMA-23 (60mm) motor frame size, a single stack rotor, along with a standard NEMA mount. It has a regular type construction and comes with a receptacle. It features a standard ‘A’-type winding with two-phases and 200 full steps per revolution: 1.8o rotation per full step to complete 360o per revolution. Based on the ‘LNF’ rotor-shaft designation, it has a standard rotor with a flat single-ended shaft. Also, the motor does not feature an encoder for positional feedback, nor does it support a customization option for encoder mounting. For performance specifications, the motor has a detent torque of 0.028Nm (this is how stiff the motor shaft is at rest, like static friction), a rotor inertia of 1.2×10-5 kgm2, and a thermal resistance of 5.5 /watt. The motor’s holding torque, rated current, phase inductance and resistance are considered over three types of phase connections: parallel, series and unipolar. For the parallel and series mode, the motor has a holding torque of 0.81Nm, and 0.57 for the unipolar. The rated DC current, inductance and resistances are 5.6A, 0.8mH and 0.23ohms; 2.8A, 3.2mH and 0.92ohms; and 4.0A, 0.8mH and 0.46ohms for parallel, series and unipolar connections respectively. Weighing only 0.68kg, the P21NRXA-LNF-NS-02 is light, but powerful. It has insulation of the NEMA class-B category, which indicates a permissible operation up to 130.

While the P21NRXA-LNF-NS-02 is not optimized for closed loop operations, it is designed for excellent performance in general stepper motor applications, within its category.
