Product Description

OKUMA has developed an optical drive interface called the VAC5 and it can work with a conventional VACIII D6 unit which is built with a PCB control on the power unit. This unit holds a LED indicator which displays several codes of error and/or controls status of the system when a troubleshooting, validation or a routinary check is needed. If the system holds a VAC4113 firmware of higher it is possible to check the winding changeover from low speed to high speed, displayed as "HL" and "HH." When the unit is in error status, it will display "AL" followed by a certain error code of the system, like the alarm 2 which we can know thanks to the manual that it indicates a motor over speed and the manual provides several solutions and causes. This may vary on different scenarios of application, possible causes can go from a defective resolver, a magnetic sensor in the encoder is defective or a gap between the detection gear and the magnetic encoder is larger than it should, then once we make sure which is the cause we will probably have to replace a motor or make the right adjustment in the gap.

One of the most common errors could be strong noise or vibrations while the motor is running, this anomalies will be displayed as the 2-7 error and it can have several causes with different check methods and actions which are detailly displayed in the manual.

Before any troubleshooting of the system, it is very important to verify the supply power we have which is 180 to 220 V ac and check carefully that the plug and connection are properly tightened and its correct position.
