MIV15-3-V5 is definitely one of the best AC servo drives manufactured by Okuma. The servo drive functions as a MIV unit or an inverter unit with the manufacturer’s IPM motor or VAC motor. The second generation unit is a MIV inverter spindle type drive and is integrated with a large capacitance capacitor. The inverter unit encompasses a size of 380 x 150 x 325 mm (H x W x D) and weighs11.2 kg.

The AC servo drive features one-axis specification and can control only one motor at a time with its inbuilt control board. The MIV unit has an output power rating of 20 kW, an ICB3 type inverter control board and firmware for ICB-H. The inverter unit requires a 7-segment LED display board and a control board for its configuration. It can be constructed using a power board, internal and external cooling fans, a power module and a radiation fin along with the inverter control board. The cooling fans prevent overheating of the servo drive to ensure its long life. MIV15-3-V5 servo drive utilizes M4 x 8L screws for fixing the control panel.

The manufacturer’s AC servo drives also come in options of two-axis specification and the ability to control an axis drive motor. These drives make use of a 24VDC (control power) or 300VC power supply that can be connected to multiple units at a time.
