The AKM23D-BNCN2-00 is an AKM series synchronous servo motor from Kollmorgen. The motor does not feature any brushes because of the electric commutation performed by the SERVOSTAR digital servo amplifier. The standard motor must be transported between a temperature range of 25°C and 70°C. The ball bearings of the motor are equipped with a grease packing. The motor must be checked for bearing noise after every 2,500 hours of operation. The motor housing must be earthed to the busbar safely in the switch cabinet. Frictionally-locking and backlash-free collets must be used as far as possible. The servomotor comes with a one-year warranty period.

The rare earth magnets help in driving the motor very dynamically. The motor is fitted with a 24V holding brake that cannot be retrofitted. The inclusion of the spring-applied holding brake increases the overall length of the motor. The holding brake has a holding torque of 1.42 Nm at 120 °C. The device supports the use of a radial shaft-sealing ring for protection against oil spray and oil mist. It offers feedback through a comcoder with 2,048PPR. The unit has a static friction torque of 0.007Nm and a thermal time constant of 10min. The motor has a rated power of 0.54kW

The servo motor may not work if the servo amplifier is not enabled or the motor phases are in the wrong sequence. The housing of the motor must not be subject to immersion or spray for cleaning. It should be cleaned with isopropanol. The motor has a climatic category of 1K4 according to EN 50178 specifications for storage. It makes use of a 4 x 2 x 0.25mm² shielded encoder cable.
