The TBM 1.2-40-W1/220 is a bleeder module belonging to the TBM series. This device has been manufactured for installation in the automation line where it absorbs excess energy and ensures the safety of the equipment and the operating personnel. When the drives are operated in generator mode, a significant amount of regenerative energy is produced. This regenerative energy has to be dissipated from the system bus. This model is used with the TVM power supply units produced by Indramat where it is installed in parallel with the power supply module. This model comes with a bleeder power of 40 kW. The device consists of a resistor and a chopper. During braking mode, the motor’s inverter runs in regenerative mode and this can start increasing the bus voltage. In order to keep the bus voltage within the threshold limit, the TBM 1.2-40-W1/220’s chopper engages the resistor that absorbs excess energy and dissipates it as heat.

The TBM 1.2-40-W1/220 is a useful safety device especially for protection against electric shocks. When power is supplied to the drives, the filter capacitors get charged up to peak value. When the power is cut off, the capacitors remain charged and can provide an electric shock upon contact. The bleeder module discharges these capacitors quickly and prevents accidents at the workplace. This device can operate continuously without overheating. Effective temperature optimization is ensured through fats heat dissipated that is assisted by a blower fan. This bleeder module can also be used in areas where two or more voltages are required. It acts as a voltage divider and can supply a suitable voltage to connected systems.
