When founded in 1958, Indramat was known for producing efficient industrial motion control systems for the printing and packaging industries. For any type of factory work that required accuracy and power, Indramat offered its remarkable motion control technology and engineered solutions. Despite the hardships that took over Indramat and their brand name, their legacy continues to live through the wide variety of Indramat servo motors still are widely used in factories. One very significant achievement for Indramat was manufacturing the first AC brushless servo motor in 1979, after being acquired by Rexroth. 

40 years later, Indramat is still known for their maintenance-free, long lasting, and reliable motion control technology. The Indramat MDD series of motors is characterized by permanent magnets as well as no-maintenance motors. Since their development of brushless servo motors, the need to replace worn out brushes was eradicated completely. The bearings on all Indramat servo motors are also lifetime lubricated, meaning there is little to no maintenance required to continue running the synchronous AC servo motor.
