Differential analog command input and 16-bit parallel digital command input are the two interfaces which are available with the unit. Operations of the unit can be carried out using any one interface.
There are a few main components of the system. These include 1) Three phase power transmitter 2) KDV Modular power supply 3) KDA Asynchronous drive module 4) CDM Computer drive module 5) AC Asynchronous spindle motor with feedback.
The CDM Computer drive module is an essential part. It has all the required logic, which is necessary for receiving the velocity commands, when compared with the speed values that are available from the incremental encoder. The result is then converted to the current command for KDA. Also, the CDM keeps a track of events like rotor and slip position. It includes all algorithms which are necessary to compensate this.
The control principle of the device offers great stability and high stiffness which is associated with induction motors. This system is completely suitable for spindle velocity control. Speeds can be utilized to the extent of zero RPM. The drive is a designed to be used along with modular AC Servo controllers. A power supply is shared.
