It creates a large amount of electrical voltage, most of which is sent back to the drive controller through the power cable. The HLR01.1N-66K0-N02R1-B-007-NNNN brake resistor prevents the returned electrical voltage from damaging the servo drive by consuming the excess electrical voltage. The energy the resistor consumes is turned into heat energy and sent away from the resistor. The absence of the HLR01.1N-66K0-N02R1-B-007-NNNN brake resistor can lead to a steady increase in the drive controller's circuit voltage until the power circuits snap, leading to a machine brake down.
