The HLR01.1N-04K5-N18R0-A-007-NNNN is an advanced and sophisticated brake resistor designed by Bosch Rexroth to protect industrial machines from damage by absorbing the excess voltage sent into the servo drive’s power circuit during machine deceleration. The excess voltage absorbed by the brake resistor is converted to heat energy, which can be easily dissipated from the brake resistor through the silts present at the abrupt end of the brake resistor’s housing.

To operate the HLR01.1N-04K5-N18R0-A-007-NNNN brake resistor, a brake chopper must be attached to the drive controller. The brake resistor produces a continuous output of 4.50 kilowatts and a nominal braking resistance of 18.0 ohms. During operation, the peak power by which the motor brakes on the motor shaft is about 33.00 kilowatts. The brake resistor can absorb a peak regenerated power of 432.00 kilowatts. The minimum cycle time and the maximum on-time duty of the HLR01.1N-04K5-N18R0-A-007-NNNN brake resistor are 120.00 and 13.00 seconds, respectively.

The HLR01.1N-04K5-N18R0-A-007-NNNN brake resistor is enclosed in flame-proof containers, which protect the resistor’s elements from damaging environmental factors. The brake resistor should be mounted directly above the drive. However, a minimum amount of space should be maintained between the brake resistor and other machine accessories.  This space-saving arrangement also simplifies the installation work and makes an effective cooling system. The robust construction and high dielectric strength of the resistor elements enable extreme pulse loading.

Although the brake resistor is produced by industrial professionals under ideal conditions, the operation and installation of the brake resistor should be in accordance with the instructions in the resistor’s documentation.
