The DDS03.1-W050-RS01-02 is a basic unit for Bosch Rexroth DDS series controllers. DDS controllers are modular in design. Operators can adapt the basic unit by installation of plug in modules. A complete DDS controller includes the following components: the basic unit, software module, plug in modules and controller firmware. Each DDS basic unit has five slots for plug in module. Two plug in modules are mandatory, and three are optional. The mandatory modules include a software module and a command communication module. The controller firmware and operating parameters for the drive are stored on the software module. Options for the command module include Analog, SERCOS, single-axis positioning and Interbus. The command module on the DDS03.1-W050-RS01-02 supports SERCOS. This interface supports communication at 2 / 4 Mbps. The nodes on a SERCOS network are deployed in ring topology.

DDS controllers support one of two cooling designs: heat technology and cold technology. The DDS03.1-W050-RS01-02 is designed with heat technology and dissipates heat inside the cabinet. The cool enters through an inlet at the bottom of the drive, and heated air exits through an outlet at the top side of the drive. To ensure proper ventilation, Bosch recommends providing 40 millimeters of free space on the front of the controller, and 80 millimeter of spacing on the top and bottom sides. Dimensions of the DDS03.1-W050-RS01-02 are 355 x 325 x 70 millimeters. Approximate weight of the drive is 5.5 kilograms. The controller supports one motor feedback method that is resolver feedback. The output current rating of the DDS03.1-W050-RS01-02 is 50 Amps. Protection rating of the controller is IP20. Only trained personnel should handle the controller and associated equipment and accessories.
