When AC servo motors such as those in the MDD, 2AD, ADF, and 1MB series by Bosch Rexroth are used with the digital drive controllers of the DDS series, these drive controllers become rapid-response drives. They are designed with a modular configuration for the easy adaptation of the drive controller to different kinds of applications. These include textile machines, printing and packaging machines, and robotics.

The DDS02.2-A100-BE33-01-FW is a digital drive controller in Bosch Rexroth’s DDS drive system. It belongs to the Line 2 group of controllers and features Design 1. For its cooling, it uses cold technology where the cooling airflow is outside the control cabinet that the drive controller is housed in with its supply unit. Here, heat generated is largely dissipated outside the control cabinet, allowing the use of small cabinets. This drive controller can be connected to all supply units from Indramat with a regulated voltage of 24V DC. The control cabinet where the supply unit is mounted with the drive controller has an IP 10 Ingress Protection rating according to DIN 40 050. It protects both units against solid objects over 50mm in diameter.

Motors with digital servo feedback and resolver feedback can be operated using the DDS02.2-A100-BE33-01-FW. The drive controller also features a SERCOS interface that permits the operation of digital drives. The drives must have controls that are compatible with the module. They are connected using a fiber optics cable, which ensures the safe and rapid transmission of data. The module also provides inputs used to evaluate reference switches, travel range limit switches, and sensor inputs. This DDS drive controller supports firmware which can be ordered as a separate item.
