The MDD and MKD synchronous motors and the LAR and LAF linear inductance AC motors can be combined with drive controllers in the DDS series to give rapid-response drives. These highly functional drive controllers are components of the modular DDS drive system. They are used in machine tools, textile equipment, printing and packaging machinery, robotics, and handling machines.

The DDS02.1-W200-DS46-02-FW is a digital drive controller of the DDS02 series designed and manufactured by Bosch Rexroth. It is used for controlling motors with digital servo feedback and features a SERCOS interface. The SERCOS plugin module allows the digital drive with this drive controller to be operated with its compatible controls, using a fiber optic cable. Additionally, it provides inputs for the evaluation of reference switches, travel range limit switches, and sensor inputs. The drive controller is cooled by a cooling airflow within the control cabinet that houses the drive controller. This cooling method is called heat technology, and it requires a large control cabinet with air conditioning.

Like other drive controllers in the DDS drive system, the DDS02.1-W200-DS46-02-FW supports all supply units from Indramat. The supply unit and drive controller are designed for mounting within a control cabinet that has a protection rating of  IP 10 according to DIN 40 050. This means that solid objects larger than 50mm in size cannot penetrate it to cause damage. The drive controller has an IP 20 rating, and it is further protected from solids with a diameter of 12mm or more. The current rating for the operation of this drive controller is 200A, while the permitted DC bus voltage is 300V with a tolerance of  ±15%.
