The Bosch Rexroth DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 is a DDS2.1 series digital drive controller with SERCOS communication interface. The drive can be used for a wide variety of industrial applications including CNC machine tool axes, robotics, grinding machines, woodworking machines printing machines and textile machines. The control, monitoring and diagnostic functions are performed by a signal processor. This enables high-resolution measurement of the rotor position over the complete speed range. The SERCOS interface on the DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 is a serial real-time communications system that allows serial data exchange over fiber-optic cables. The possible operating mode for the DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 drive are torque loop, position loop and velocity loop. Several advantages are offered by the use of SERCOS including display and entry of drive data via SERCOS terminals of NC controls, high speed resolution of up to 0.0001 RPM and reduced complexity of NC controls.

The basic unit, drive controller and optional modules have to be combined to form a configured drive controller. The basic unit of the DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 drive has five slots. Three slots can be used for installation of plug-in modules. One slot is reserved for a software module and one slot is reserved for a command module such as SERCOS. The rated output of the DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 is 50 Amps. Other drive features include digital servo feedback and convection cooling. The DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 is mounted so that it is completely enclosed inside a cabinet. The controller is designed to use cooling air from within the cabinet. Therefore the DDS02.1-W050-DS30-00 should be mounted inside a large cabinet that provides good air flow and separation from other heat-generating devices. Air conditioning may also be required to maintain ambient temperature within permitted thresholds.
