One of these devices is a drive controller with a power and control section. The control sections of the CSB01 series are single-axis types and are linked into the power section. The CSB01.1C-PB-ENS-EN2-L2-S-NN-FW is a configurable single-axis control section in the BASIC UNIVERSAL range by Bosch Rexroth. It is a Design 1 version of the control sections in the CSB01 series equipped with encoder evaluation interfaces. These interfaces support the connection of encoder systems with supply voltages of 12V and 5V. It is also equipped with a PROFIBUS master communication module which facilitates the cyclical exchange of specified and actual values like status signals and diagnostic alerts with the bus user. Also, the communication module is one of the most reliable Fieldbus interfaces used in automated manufacturing and process automation.

The use of firmware is allowed with the CSB01.1C-PB-ENS-EN2-L2-S-NN-FW. It also has a slot for a plug-in Multimedia Card that can store, duplicate, and transfer drive parameters. Its safety option is Safe Torque Off (STO) which meets the requirement of category 3 PL e/SIL 3. This control section belongs to category C3 according to IEC 61800‑3. As a result, it's better suited for use in commercial settings. If it is connected to public low-voltage mains, which feed residential areas, high-frequency radio interference will be generated.
