The EK1818 EtherCAT coupler from Beckhoff Automation GmBH is a part of its EK1800 series of devices of the same type. This product is integrated with four digital outputs and eight digital inputs. The unit features a data transfer rate of 100Mbaud. It has several LEDs for diagnosing the power supply, the EtherCAT state machine/PLC, the Fieldbus as well as the digital inputs and outputs. The coupler must be used only with the manufacturer’s UL Listed EtherCAT system. It does not incorporate any firmware. The device has a typical short circuit current rating of less than 2A.
