The EK1828-0010 EtherCAT coupler from Beckhoff Automation GmBH has no inputs. The coupler features eight digital outputs. It supports extension by connection with EL/ES terminals from the manufacturer. The product is used to couple EtherCAT terminals to 100BASE-TX terminals. The implementation of the digital outputs is done with the help of a direct plug-in 1-wire technique. The wiring is done with the help of ferrules or solid wire conductors. The power contacts have a maximum voltage rating of 24VDC and a maximum current rating of 10A. The device has a typical switch on-time of 60µs and a switch-off time of 300µs. The coupler is available with a one-year warranty period.

This device has a maximum of 4.2GB addressable I/O points. The product must be mounted on mounting rails of 35mm size that conform to EN 60715 specifications. If the E-bus power supply uses more than 1,000mA current consumption, EL9410 power terminals from the manufacturer should be used. The unit has an E-bus/field voltage electrical isolation of 500V. The outputs have a rated voltage of 24VDC with -15% / +20% tolerance. This product features a storage temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The connection to the network is established through the upper Ethernet interface by the coupler.

The unit is capable of processing unaddressed MAC Broadcast telegrams from the EtherCAT master. These telegrams are of the EtherCAT Device Protocol type. There is minimum latency when this device does the telegram conversion from Ethernet 100BASE-TX to E-bus signal representation. The coupler has a size of 44 x 100 x 68 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 125 grams. It does not support HotConnect functionality and distributed clocks. The locking mechanism of the product during installation should not have a conflict with the fixing bolts present in the mounting rail.
