Kollmorgen R40 Series of synchronous servo motors are constructed with samarium-cobalt permanent magnets to generate maximum torque among a wide speed range with minimal rotor inertia. The R43HEBA-R2-NS-VS-02 features rugged construction with a totally enclosed, non-ventilated IP65 design, weighing in at 6.8 kg (15 lbs). It uses Metric mounting dimensions. In terms of winding power, the R43HEBA-R2-NS-VS-02 generates 3.9 Nm of continuous stall torque from 5.6 A_RMS of current and can achieve a peak torque of 10.4 Nm from 16.8 A_RMS of current. Its torque constant is 0.3 Nm/A_RMS.

Its inertia is a mere 0.22 kgm2x10-3, allowing for precision control and great acceleration. Its typical rated speed, from a 240 V ac or 320 V dc bus, is 3700 rpm, and its typical rated torque (from the same bus) is 3.6 Nm. Its brake operates at 100 V dc, its primary feedback mechanism is a size 21 transmitter type frameless resolver (it does not have a secondary feedback mechanism), and it uses a Viton shaft seal.
